Welcome to the 2020 Canadian Police
Curling Championship Website

NEWS: COVID-19 Update

Hello,
First of all we would like to sincerely thank all our sponsors, business donors, volunteers and curling community for your previously pledged support and contributions to the Canadian Police Curling Championships that were set for April 17th, 2020. We were so close, and things were certainly shaping up for an incredible event!

I'm sure most have assumed, and correctly so that we regret to advise you that at this time the National will not be taking place as originally planned.

As we have seen over the last couple of days, the situation with COVID-19 has the ability to change on an hourly basis, making most plans for the immediate future extremly difficult. We ask for your continued patience and understanding, as we sort through what this means for our National Police Curling Championship going forward.

We have a lot to work through and discuss, and of course we all face the unknown at this point in regards to the ability to possibly reschedule and host this championship in the Fall. Should that occur, we would be thrilled to continue our partnerships with you.

We will continue to keep you informed going foward. If you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to reach out to us.

In the meantime, please be safe

Sincere Regards,

Canadian Police Curling Championship Host Committee

The Tam Heather Curling and Tennis Club opened its 8 sheet rink in 1973. It has an upper and lower deck viewing area for all the curling action. Up stairs has a licenced lounge and seating area to relive all those game action moments. The club is one of the areas best so we can expect another great Championship.

Congratulations to British Columbia`s Team Hockley who will return to defend their Championship.
Team Canada 2019
Bill Taylor - Dan Brennan - Randy Nelson - Glen Brennan - Dale "Big Blue"Hockley

A little background on Dale "Big Blue" Hockley; he's been waiting a long time for his Blue Bombers to finally bring home the prize. Well it finally happened in his life time. Dale on the other hand has brought home the Canadian Championship in 1985 in Whitby, and also in 1986 in Halifax.  It appears that he had hard time getting to the show in the 1990’s and 2000's, but may have been busy fine tuning his team.  In Truro in 2011, Dale and team rekindled that Championship form following up again with another National championship in Winnipeg in 2014, before bringing another one home in St. John's. Dale now has five Police Championships, only second to Garth Mitchell’s six (1984 in Winnipeg, 1999 in Regina, 2004 in Hamilton, 2006 in Calgary, 2007 in Moncton and 2017 in Fredericton). It's believed that Dale, who has now finally retired from the RCMP, can work on those inturns and outturns.  He's been known to play more than 120 games in a season and has had the privilege of representing BC at the Canadian Seniors Championship. Dale's been involved at all levels of Police Curling, hosting the Canadian Police Curling Championship and is now entering his sixth decade as an active police curler, organizer and promoter of our organization and sport. He's earned a few nick names over the years, Hawk, Big Blue, Dad and now "Gramps".  Good luck Team Canada and Hurry Hard Boys.

Check back often as we will be updating the site as events are finalized.
